Tasting notes Álvaro Domecq Vermut La Janda
Vermouth.
Raisins, wood and wormwood. These three notes are the ones that predominate in the tasting of Álvaro Domecq Vermut La Janda. Chestnut in colour, bright appearance. Warm and delicious, well balanced. Persistent with a slightly bitter finish.
About Álvaro Domecq Vermut La Janda
Jerez de la Frontera is not only a land of liqueurs. There is also room for vermouth. Truth be told, this beverage – made by macerating a base wine and aromatic herbs – has stood out in this land of oxidative aging and flor veils for many years now. Now, one of the houses that is also joining the new wave is Bodegas Álvaro Domecq with its first vermouth, Álvaro Domecq Vermut La Janda.
Maintaining their essence, sherry wines will be the base of Álvaro Domecq Vermut La Janda. Specifically, palomino and Pedro Ximenez (two typical varieties of the area) will be the soul of this drink, which will be infused with aromatic herbs and local botanicals. Finally, to make the journey of the senses to the south of Spain complete, Álvaro Domecq Vermut La Janda also makes reference to the equestrian world through its label. Equestrianism has been an indispensable part of this winery since 1999, when the Jerez-born rejoneador Álvaro Domecq Romero bought this winery (founded in 1850 and formerly known as Bodegas Pilar Aranda).
Good wine, horses and aromas and flavours of the south. Who could want more? Whoever could, can loaf about looking for it. The rest of us can seek solace in a glass of Álvaro Domecq Vermut La Janda.
