About Antoine Sunier Régnié

Antoine Sunier Régnié is a natural red wine made by winemaker Antoine Sunier with the area’s typical Gamay variety in the AOC Régnié French denomination (Beaujolais).

Antoine Sunier, a young telecommunications engineer, discovered his passion for wine after a holiday at older brother Julien’s winery. He then decided to leave his job to study oenology. Two years later, in 2014, he set up his own winery in the town of Régnié. With the help and experience of his brother he acquired organically cultivated vineyards and began making natural wines with minimal intervention. Over the last few years his work has been very well received in Beaujolais.

Within the 4.5 hectares of vineyards owned by the winery between the towns of Régnié and Morgon, Antoine Sunier Régnié comes from 2.7 ha of vines with an average age of 45 years old. These are organically cultivated vineyards where ecological and chemical-free treatments are used. The harvest is manual and the clusters are carefully selected in the vineyard.

Antoine Sunier Régnié is vinified using the traditional carbonic method. This involves not destemming the grapes and leaving them in stainless steel tanks for 8 to 15 days to ferment spontaneously with native yeasts. The grapes are then pressed and racked using gravity in used (for over 8 years) Burgundy barrels and in epoxy cement tanks for 8 months. The wine is then bottled without clarifying or filtering and only a small amount of SO2 is added.

Antoine Sunier Régnié is a fresh, natural and vibrant wine, made with very little intervention. A lively wine that brings a breath of fresh air to Beaujolais.
2018 Antoine Sunier Régnié 2018 is a light red wine with aromas of rose petals, raspberries and cherries accompanied by hints of candied lavender, exotic spices and incense. On the palate it is lively and elegant with persistent floral notes and a mineral finish.
