About De Moor Chablis Bel Air et Clardys

We can often make things more difficult for ourselves by spending more time, energy and effort than we need to on things that don’t benefit us. Alice and Olivier de Moor, true legends of sustainable agriculture in Burgundy, have run away from all of this and, following a zen philosophy, they are true champions of natural wine. Through the power of simplicity, a genuine human ability to work out the small steps needed to make a difference, they make pure wines where the grape and the terroir speak for themselves.
 
Proof of this no-intervention interpretation can be found in De Moor Chablis Bel Air et Clardys, a white wine made from Chardonnay vines from two plots in the south of the AOC Chablis called Bel Air and Clardy. These are old, organically cultivated vines growing on ancient rocky soils of clay and limestone that produce the most elegant Chardonnay thanks to the expertise of these two great winegrowers. The De Moor Chablis Bel Air et Clardys grapes are harvested and fermented naturally with native yeasts in used barrels, followed by aging for a minimum of 12 months. The wine is finally bottled without being filtered or adding sulphur.

In reality, De Moor Chablis Bel Air et Clardys is a rare cuvée made through the power of simplicity. A deep chablis that beautifully combines unctuousness with freshness.

 

2018

De Moor Chablis Bel Air et Clardys 2018 is a white wine with delicate aromas of ripe white fruit, notes of wild herbs and hints of butter. On the palate it is opulent, fresh and elegant. A very gastronomic white wine with good mineral tension and a long and pleasant finish.
