About Domaine des Moriers Beaujolais-Villages

“We are convinced that lively soils and healthy grapes are paramount to making energetic wines with personality.” Under this premise, a group of friends with a passion for wine, including new generation winemakers Arnaud Combier and François de Nicolay, work small hectares in the French communes of Lanciè, Fleurie, Morgon and Moulin-à-Vent, in Beaujolais, to produce the most natural wines possible. An area where the Gamay grape showcases itself like nowhere else and allows them to put their passion for terroir on display in a masterful way.

Domaine des Moriers Beaujolais-Villages is a single-variety wine made with the star variety of the AOC Beaujolais-Villages, Gamay, which comes from 40-year-old vines grown in sandy and granitic soils between Morgon and Moulin-a-Vent. They work organically using biodynamic treatments. The soils are ploughed by horse, minimal copper is used in the vineyard and herbicides and pesticides are absolutely forbidden. In the Domaine des Moriers winery, Arnaud and François opt for whole-cluster vinifications in concrete tanks and a gentle extraction that rarely exceeds two weeks. The wine then spends 6 months in oak barrels.

With a clear objective of preserving the freshness of the wine and allowing the terroir to express itself clearly, Domaine des Moriers Beaujolais-Villages is a wine that speaks for itself. A vibrant, pure and seductive Gamay that honours the way modern natural wine is made.

2020

Domaine des Moriers Beaujolais-Villages 2020 is a smooth red wine with aromas of red fruits, floral notes and hints of spice. The palate is juicy, crisp and light. A wine with lots of freshness, soft tannins and a suggestively spicy finish.
