There are seven colours in the rainbow, but Pilar García Duque discovered an additional one. A hue invisible to the eye, yet discernible to those who view the land with their heart. Thus was born García Duque El Octavo Color, a white wine that reinterprets its essence from a unique, bold, and profoundly feminine perspective.
 
Best Winemaker of Rueda 2024, according to the esteemed critic and journalist, Master of Wine Tim Atkin, Pilar has carved her own path in the highly competitive region of Castilla y León. With over 20 years of experience and a sensitivity honed by the landscape, she has led her personal project since 2014, crafting wines that defy trends yet are imbued with intention.
 
García Duque El Octavo Color is a varietal of sauvignon blanc originating from sandy soils with pebbles under dry farming conditions, with a naturally limited yield. Harvested at the precise moment to preserve its delicate expression, it ferments in used French oak—never intrusive—and also undergoes aging for at least 9 months before being transferred to concrete egg-shaped vats to refine the palate and round off its maturation. The result is a white wine of great complexity: elegant, long, and vibrant, with a character that promises to evolve with grace over the coming years.
