About Glenrothes 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The Glenrothes is a globally acclaimed Scottish distillery renowned for the exceptional quality of its whiskies, yet its history has not been one of untroubled progress.
 
James Stuart, its founder, faced a multitude of challenges. The debut of his inaugural pure distillate coincided with a period in which Great Britain was mired in one of its gravest economic downturns, and on that very day, December 28, 1879, a catastrophic disaster struck the region, precipitated by a night of tempests and gale-force winds that led to the collapse of the Tay Rail Bridge as a train was crossing, resulting in a substantial loss of life.
 
Nonetheless, James Stuart remained undeterred and succeeded in realizing his vision of establishing a distillery in his hometown of Rothes, (Speyside, Scotland), where whiskies of unprecedented character would be crafted.
 
The spirit produced by Glenrothes is considered to be of “top class” distinction; furthermore, it is the pioneering distillery in embracing the concept of vintages for its whiskies.
