About Gorvia Blanco
Gorvia Blanco is a white wine from Monterrei, a little known name in Galicia, produced by the Quinta da Muradella winery.
Quinta da Muradella is a small winery led by José Luis Mateo with the support of Raúl Pérez, one of the most important winemakers in Spain today. Gorvia Blanco is a single-variety Doña Blanca, from a small plot of old vines which give limited production. The wine is made the traditional way, with little intervention, letting the vineyard take centre stage. The grapes are destemmed and macerated cold. Fermentation takes place in 500 litre oak barrels before the wine is aged in 300 litre barrels for 8 months.
| 2011 | A good entrance. Cool, silky. Some memories of wood. Long and persistent. Yellow colour with golden reflections. Intense nose. It highlights the the minerality, white fruit with dried fruit and floral notes. |
|
| 2006 | Broad and very intense attack. Powerful. Silky, glyceric and fleshy mid palate. Very good acidity that provides it with freshness. Very long and persistent finish, with a refined bitterness provided by almonds.
A very elegant, interesting and different wine. Intense golden yellow with light greenish reflections. Clean and bright. Glyceric. Intense and complex aromas. Many notes of ripe fruit are noticed along with floral touches. When it opens up, there some notes of nuts and milk provided by the oak are released. Herbal hints and different spicies. Good mineral background. |
