About Grosset Polish Hill
Tasting a wine and being captivated is one of the most wonderful feelings in life. So when, at the age of 15, Jeffrey Grosset’s father brought home a bottle of Riesling to share with his family, and Jeffrey fell in love, this marked the start of something new in his life. He enrolled at Roseworthy Agricultural College to study agriculture and winemaking, gained experience at various wineries and eventually achieved his ultimate goal of setting up Grosset Wines in 1981. Located in the historic township of Auburn, in the Clare Valley in South Australia, this winery is responsible for making premium wines through innovation and, thanks to the quality of the results, he has become the ‘King of Riesling’ in the New World.
His Grosset Polish Hill, a single-variety Riesling white wine, comes from vines planted in 1996 on loamy, low fertility soils. They are cultivated using certified agriculture and biodynamic treatments, and the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness. In the winery, the grapes are selected, destemmed and gently pressed, and the resulting must is fermented with native yeasts at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks. Finally, it spends some time on the lees before bottling.
The result is Grosset Polish Hill, a pure, steely and sober Riesling that, although born far from its place of origin, has taken to the Clare Valley like a fish to water. It will captivate you at the first sip.
| 2019 | Grosset Polish Hill 2019 is an aromatic white wine with a shy initial nose of white fruit that grows exponentially and is accompanied by herbal notes and hints of citrus. On the palate it is fresh, light and lively. A clean wine with pronounced acidity and an amazingly long finish. |
