About Justinos Malvasia 10 Years

Justinos Malvasia 10 Years is a fortified wine made by Justino’s Madeira in the DOP Madeirawith one of Madeira’s four noble varieties; Malvasía.

Founded in 1870 under the name Vinhos Justino Henriquesen de Madeira, it is now one of the Portuguese island’s oldest wineries. Today, Justino’s Madeira has the largest stocks of Madeira wine. These are high-quality wines aged in oak barrels and well-known around the world.

Justinos Malvasia 10 Years comes from vineyards located on the island of Madeira. These vines are planted on volcanic soil and, because of the island’s landscape, they are planted on tiny terraces, known as “poios”. They are traditionally cultivated and manually harvested.

Once the Justinos Malvasia 10 Years grapes reach the winery, they are fully destemmed, crushed and pressed. The must obtained begins to ferment at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. Fermentation is stopped after 2 or 3 days by adding 96% grape spirit. Finally, it ages in American and French oak barrels in the traditional Canteiro system, an aging process where the wine is stored in barrels for 10 years with natural heat.
