In The Odyssey, the enchantress Circe warns Odysseus about the sirens. They are not monsters that destroy through violence, but beings that abduct with beauty. Their song does not kill: it mesmerises. It is so irresistible, so perfect, that anyone who hears it loses the will to continue their journey… and stays. Enchanted. Captivated. Transformed.
A similar fate befell Lambrecht and Vanhoutte, two Belgian families with a vinicultural spirit who arrived in Priorat in the late 1990s. When they heard the "song" of its stony soils, its daunting slopes, and its rugged light, they could not pass by. The spell was complete. Instead of fleeing, they surrendered to it.
Thus, Mas Alta was born in La Vilella Alta, with the technical guidance of French oenologist Michel Tardieu and wines distinguished by their depth, warmth, and elegance.
Mas Alta La Solana Alta is one of those wines that captivates you. It originates from a single plot planted with garnacha blanca and cariñena blanca varieties on limestone and clay soils, at an altitude of 450 metres, in a rugged, beautiful landscape rich in history. The cultivation is , and the harvest is done manually to preserve the natural acidity. In the winery, fermentation occurs in barrels, foudre, and concrete, at low temperatures, without malolactic fermentation, to retain all the wine’s energy. Subsequently, it undergoes a measured ageing of 6 months in new barrels and an additional 4 months in foudre.
The result is Mas Alta La Solana Alta, a high-altitude white wine that captivates from the first sip. Fresh, vibrant, full of tension and depth, it possesses a charm that is simply irresistible. Once you taste it, you succumb.
