About O Estranxeiro Blanco

Although this new wine from Eulogio Pomares, one of the most famous winegrowers of the Ribeira Sacra (Galicia) is called O Estranxeiro Blanco (“the foreigner” in Galician), the truth is that this wine is made through deep knowledge of the local area. Made with the native Godello, Albariño and Treixadura varieties, this wine showcases one of the Iberian Peninsula’s best wine regions.

Its creator, Eulogio Pomares has worked with small winegrowers in Galicia since 2012 to highlight this spectacular landscape with an amalgam of daring, unique, personality-filled wines made under the Fento Wines brand. O Estranxeiro Blanco is made from vines with an average age of 20 years old and planted on the granite soils of the Ribeiras do Miño and the slate soils of the Quiroga sub-region. The vines are cultivated using environmentally friendly agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually in small boxes.

When the O Estranxeiro Blanco grapes reach the winery, they are gently pressed and the resulting must ferments in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts and at a controlled temperature at all times. The wine then spends 6 months on lees in these same tanks.

O Estranxeiro Blanco is presented as a young, airy wine with a dominant profile. A white that interprets the tranquility and peace that a foreigner must feel when they arrive in such an extraordinary place.

2020

O Estranxeiro Blanco 2020 is an aromatic white wine with notes of white fruits, hints of ripe citrus and touches of fragrant herbs. On the palate it is fresh and light with a certain structure. A balanced wine with a marked acidity and an elegant and well-defined mid-palate.
