About Pazo da Sinsela San Clemente

If there is one thing that unites winemakers Rodrigo Méndez and Raúl Pérez, it is their passion for wine and, in particular, their love for the Albariño. Rodrigo Méndez is considered one of the main champions of quality viticulture and winemaking in the Rías Baixas Denomination of Origin and his wines are recognised for their expression of terroir and elegance. And Raúl Pérez is famous for his innovative and experimental approach to winemaking, seeking the unique expression of each vineyard and each grape variety. Both winemakers have contributed to the renown of Albariño wines and have been recognised for their talented contribution to the wine industry in Spain. There is no doubt that their wines are extraordinary.

One of the projects they work on together, Pazo da Sinsela, started out in vineyards in the heart of the Salnés Valley (in Galicia). A total of 3 hectares of old vines planted on granitic, alluvial and clay soils and whose Atlantic climate provides the freshness that enriches the Albariño variety. This is the origin of Pazo da Sinsela San Clemente, a white wine that is the result of a wise, creative and respectful work with the terroir. In the winery, fermentation takes place spontaneously with native yeasts in 225, 300 and 500 litre barrels that have been used multiple times. Finally, the wine is aged for 12 months, with most in different size barrels that have been used multiple times and a small amount in a 1,500 litre foudre.

Fresh, elegant and seductive, Pazo da Sinsela San Clemente is a small example of the virtues of the DO Rias Baixas star variety. An Albariño from old vines in a unique terroir that, in the hands of two wine artists, becomes a real delicacy.
