In this special edition of The Singleton, something emerges in the whisky's journey that slightly disrupts its usual expectation: an unforeseen influence, almost challenging to pinpoint at first, imparting a distinct smoky, dry, and spicy nuance unlike anything familiar. From the Scottish Highlands, the Glen Ord distillery —one of the region's oldest— has cultivated for decades a concept of whisky rooted in smoothness and balance. However, in this 17-year-old expression, time is crafted differently: a dual maturation in sherry casks and others that have held mezcal, whose imprint is not overt but unfolds in layers gradually in the glass.
 
On the nose, the ensemble opens with ripe fruit and sweet sherry notes, but soon a drier, almost smoky tension emerges, not entirely belonging to the usual Scottish repertoire.
