About Pages Verveine du Velay Jaune Liqueur 55% 70cl

Over 160 years ago, Joseph Rumillet-Charretier, a brilliant herbalist, created the Verveine du Velay, a liqueur that soon became a symbol of Auvergne (France). There, verbena, known by the Romans as the herb of Venus, was considered sacred and capable of rekindling the flame of love; today it remains an emblem of local gastronomy and a source of inspiration for chefs exploring its unique aromas. In 1886, Victor Pagès took over the management of the distillery, leaving his name and legacy, which subsequent generations have preserved with passion, turning the Verveine du Velay into both a gastronomic and architectural heritage of Le Puy-en-Velay.

The Destilería Pagès remains true to the ancestral recipe, combining verbena grown on its own lands with carefully selected herbs, spices, and aromas. The lemon verbena, planted in June and hand-harvested before the first frosts, is meticulously dried in the dark to preserve its delicate lemon aroma. Pagès Verveine du Velay Young Herbal Liqueur is crafted through a process of maceration, distillation in copper stills, and a minimum aging of 12 months in oak barrels, achieving a balance between herbal freshness, depth, and character that reflects centuries of refinement.
